Abstract

The aim of this article is to present a perspective on the construction of the Higher Education and Science Ecosystem in East Timor. In a first phase, based on the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, the first curriculum and the Basic Law of Education, the construction of higher education in Timor-Leste will be presented, opting for a historical framework, which will allude to the chronological establishment of Higher Education Institutions in the country (HEIs), as well as some research centres. In a second phase, the institutions that are part of the scientific ecosystem of Timor-Leste will be presented, namely ANAAA, FDCH, INCT, the National Commission for UNESCO and MESCC.
